This calculator can be used for any kind of flooring that is sold by pack size, including hardwood, laminate, vinyl and bamboo flooring. It will estimate the amount flooring needed based on Sq. M/ Pack coverage.

Example:
Pack of flooring covers 2.2 square Meter a pack
Room length= 4M
Room width = 4M
Square foot of room = 4 * 4 = 16 sq. Meters
Amount of packs needed for this room = 7.27 packs
Total result of packs needed = 8 (rounded up from 8 packs)

If you add a waste factor of 10%, it takes the amount of packs needed of 7.27 and adds 10% to this = 7.997
   Total result of packs = 8
   Total result of packs including waste = 8
In this example the 10 % waste was included in the amount of extra flooring you have because you buy the amount of flooring needed by the full pack and both results will be the same.

If you add a waste factor to this of 15%, it takes the amount of packs needed of 7.27 and adds 15% to this = 8.36    Total result of packs = 5    Total result of packs including waste factor = 6

Keep in mind that the amount of packs needed to cover an area, you buy by the pack, will include more than you need in most cases.
