Orchard and Vineyard

Calculate the amount of vines needed to plant an area.

Spike VM

This calculator will calculate the amount of vines needed for an area based on your input for size. The results include the size of the area you are planting, number of vines needed for this area based on row and vine spacing required and what the planting density per acre is.

The calculation is based on that each vine has the same amount of space in your planted area. By adjusting the in row spacing up or down slightly you could end up with a few more vines.

Example of how the calculation works:
planting area = 40 feet long by 40 feet wide
row spacing = 10 feet
in row vine spacing = 6 feet
40 * 40 = 1600 square feet of area
one acre = 43560 square feet
1600 ÷ 43560 = 0.0367.
You are planting an area of 0.04 acres
10 * 6 = 60 square feet of space for each vine.
1600 ÷ 60 = 26 vines
