Time from a Distance in Kilometres and Speed in Feet per Minute

Calculate the time it takes to ride, walk, swim, or run a certain distance in kilometres based on a speed in feet per minute.

Time from Speed and Distance
Feet per Minute/Kilometres

Distance in Kilometres km
Speed in Feet per Minute ft/min

Distance in Miles mi
Speed in Metres per Minute m/min
Time in Minutes min
Time in Decimal Hours hr
Time hour min sec

  1. enter the distance in kilometres
  2. the speed in feet per minute

  1. the distance in kilometres converted to miles
  2. the feet per minute converted to metres per minute
  3. the time in minutes
  4. the time in decimal hours
  5. the time in hour, minute, and second format

time = distance ÷ speed
one kilometre (km) = 3280.83989501312 feet (ft)
one kilometre (km) = 0.621371192237334 miles (mi)
one hour (hr) = 60 minutes (min)
one foot per minute (ft/min) = 0.3048 metres per minute (m/min)
Example Calculation
How long will it take to run 10 kilometres at a speed of 60 feet per minute?
First, convert the 10 kilometres to a distance in feet;
3280.83989501312 * 10 = 32808.3989501312
10 kilometres equal 32808.4 feet

Divide the distance of 32808.4 feet by the speed of 60 feet per minute to get the time in minutes;
3280.84 ÷ 60 = 546.806649
It will take 546.806649 minutes to travel the 10 kilometres at a speed of 60 feet per minute.

Convert to decimal hours by dividing by 60 ( there are 60 minutes in one hour);
546.806649 ÷ 60 = 9.113444
The time in hours equals 9.113444 hr.
9 hr - 6 min - 48 sec
