Spike's Calculators

Calculate the time it takes to ride, walk, swim, or run a certain distance in miles based on a speed in feet per minute.

You must ensure consistency in units to calculate the time it takes to travel a distance given in miles at a speed provided in feet per minute.

- enter the distance in miles
- the speed in feet per minute

- the distance in miles converted to kilometres
- the feet per minute converted to metres per minute
- the time in minutes
- the time in decimal hours
- the time in hour, minute, and second format

time = distance ÷ speed

one mile (mi) = 1.609344 kilometres (km) one mile (mi) = 5280 feet (ft) one hour (hr) = 60 minutes (min) one foot per minute (ft/min) = 0.3048 metres per minute (m/min)

How long will it take to run 10 miles at a speed of 68 feet per minute?

First, convert the 10 miles to a distance in feet;

5280 * 10 = 52800

10 miles equals 52800 feet

Divide the distance of 52800 feet by the speed of 68 feet per minute to get the time in minutes;

52800 ÷ 68 = 776.471

It will take 776.5 minutes to travel the 10 miles at a speed of 68 feet per minute.

Convert to decimal hours by dividing by 60 (there are 60 minutes in one hour);

776.471 ÷ 60 = 12.94117

The time in hours equals 12.941 hr. = 12 hr - 56 min - 28 sec
