Stairs
Advanced Staircase Calculator
The Advanced Staircase Calculator is a comprehensive tool designed to assist builders, architects, and DIY enthusiasts in designing and constructing staircases. Whether planning a straight, L-shaped, or U-shaped staircase, this calculator provides accurate measurements to help you comply with building standards.
Note:
You have to check with your local building authority for the minimum and maximum allowable measurements
Features:
- Floor-to-Floor Height Input: Enter the height from the bottom to the top floor in inches.
- Tread Depth Input: Specify the depth of each stair tread in inches.
- Stair Design Selection: Choose straight, L-shaped, and U-shaped staircase designs.
- Landing Width Input: Enter the landing width for L-shaped or U-shaped stairs.
- Denominator Selection: Choose the denominator for fractional calculations (1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, custom).
- Results: Instantly obtain the number of risers, riser height (both decimal and fractional), number of treads, total run, and stair angle.
Calculator
- enter the height from the bottom to the top floor in inches (e.g., 120)
- specify the depth of each tread in inches (e.g., 10)
- select the design of your staircase (straight, L-shaped, or U-shaped)
- if applicable, enter the width of the landing in inches
- choose the desired denominator for fractional calculations(a useable fraction)
Result
- the number of risers,
- riser height in decimal format(both decimal and fractional)
- riser height in fractional format with the chosen denominator
- number of treads
- total run of the stairs (note: for a U-shape, it will count the landing twice)
- the angle of the stairs in degrees
Example Input:
- Floor-to-floor height: 120 inches
- Tread Depth: 10 inches
- Stair Design: L-Shaped
- Landing Width: 36 inches
- Denominator: 1/8
Example Output:
- Number of Risers: 16
- Riser Height (Decimal): 7.50 inches
- Riser Height (Fractional): 7 1/2 inches
- Number of Treads: 15
- Total Run: 186 inches
- Stair Angle: 37.02 degrees
Use the Advanced Staircase Calculator to ensure your staircase design meets all necessary standards and specifications. This tool simplifies the process of stair calculation, making it essential for anyone involved in construction or renovation projects.
